A collaboration of five artists’ work brought new life to the walls at Dr. George Hall Public School (DGH) and was celebrated last week.
Artists Karla-Maria Campbell, Lindsay Cox, Bethany Jansky of Riverbank Studio, Rachel Lyon, and Marilena Madio were tasked with designing and creating a mural that aligned with the school’s core values of teamwork, loyalty, kindness, and hard work. The design captures the connection to the land through the beautiful northern lights and forest, along with the husky mascot and its pack.
The design took five months, while the painting collaboration took four days from start to finish. It was unveiled to the school community on April 11 at their School Council Magic Show.
“The artists asked if we had a name for our Husky mascot. The truth is, we hope that each student and member of our community sees themselves reflected in the large Husky image. We are part of the Husky pack and have responsibilities of pulling together, being hard-working, loyal, and kind. The Husky is each one of us,” DGH principal, Ana Mena.
