LCVI Cornhole Tournament raises money for the Trish’s Wish Foundation

On April 5, Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCVI) hosted a Cornhole Tournament to raise money for the Trish’s Wish Foundation.

The foundation is a charity that financially supports City of Kawartha Lakes families that are in crisis as a result of a serious illness or injury to a family member who is between the ages of 17 and 25. The foundation is named in honour of Trish Peter, a former LCVI student who died of cancer.

The day-long event saw 26 teams made up of students, staff, and community members, all gathered to support the cause through friendly competition.

In total, the tournament raised $1,080 through registration fees, which will all be donated to the foundation. The winning team was made up of two community members, Ray Wells and Michelle LeBlanc, who will have their names put on the tournament plaque.

“We had a great day at the cornhole tournament, but the real win was raising money for the Trish’s Wish Foundation,” said Joe Tamlin. “It’s always a great feeling when fun meets purpose — and knowing the funds are going to such a meaningful cause makes it all the more special. I hope to make this an annual event every April.”

A huge shout out to the Cannington Cornhole Club for donating their time, experience, and scorekeeping system to help the day run smoothly.
